John Burns Memorial Reference Library

Burns LibraryThe John Burns Memorial Reference Library is a traveling numismatic reference library available at coin shows throughout the country.  The purpose is to provide an area to relax and browse through the reference books on the shelves.  The books are part of the inventory of the late numismatic book dealer John Burns and additional book donations from friends.  Coin Show attendees are welcome to use the books but are not permitted to take any of them from the show floor.   All books must be returned to the shelves before exiting the coin show.

The library traveling debut occurred at the American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money in August of 2015.  It was very well received and was used by collectors, dealers, and exhibit judges.

We hope to expand this library and be able to offer it at many coin shows and make it a traveling enhancement to numismatists.  A memorial library fund has been created to help make this concept a reality.  Please consider making a donation.

The Burns Library will be set up at the American Numismatic Association National Money Show at the David Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, PA March 28 – 30, 2019.  It will be placed next to the PAN Booth in the Club Midway area.  Please stop by and say hello.

Author John Highfill donated a copy of his two-volume set of The Comprehensive U.S. Silver Dollar Encyclopedia. The photo above is John holding volume 1 and Burns Library Curator Ed Krivoniak holding volume 2. The book is available for sale through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, eBay Books. It is also available in digital form. For more information email: ok**********@co*.net

Another recent book donation made at our May 2018 Spring Coin Show.  Alan Stullenbarger at left of CoinZip.com with book author Kevin Flynn holding his recent work, Treasure Hunting The Top 20th and 21st Century U.S. Coins.  Kevin is the co-author with John A. Wexler.  Kevin has been very generous over the years with donations to the Burns Library.

Recent book donation from Whitman publisher and author Dennis Tucker made at the Fall PAN Show and Convention. Your presentation at our Lecture Series was very enlightening regarding these recent coins and medals produced by the mint. This donation of your latest endeavor, American Gold and Silver: U.S. Mint Collector and Investor Coins and Medals, Bicentennial to Date is a quite the fine addition to our library. Thank you!
