PAN Medals

PAN has produced various medals and awards over its history. We are in the process of sifting through past records in order to ascertain a complete list with the number of medals struck, along with the sizes and compositions.

The various noted sculptors, engravers, and designers over the years created the PAN medals shown on this page. The 1989 ANA convention medal was the work of John M. Mercanti, the twelfth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint until his retirement in late 2010.

The eagle on our current logo medal was created by Frank Gasparro, (August 26, 1909 – September 29, 2001), the tenth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. He also created the lady liberty on the Gasparro Numismatist of the Year Award.

The 2011 ANA medal was the creation of Jami Franki, who also has designed the forward-facing portrayal of early US President Thomas Jefferson on the nickel coin in use today.
