Covid-19 Update: The Monroeville Convention Center is currently closed to events totaling more than 25 persons. Our October 29-31 Fall PAN Coin Show is still scheduled with the hope that the closed restriction will be lifted. The convention center management thiks they will be reopened by our show date. We were informed that each dealer tables (corners and straights) would need to be spaced 6′ apart using low spacer drapes. We would have to use the full back room (lecture, exhibits, and KIDZone area) to fit everyone. It will be a split room bourse floor. Your table may be in the second room.
Masks will be required and provided, if needed, for public, dealers, and staff. PAN will also require temperature checks daily. You will be given a colored wristband when you clear the Covid-19 check to allow you access in and out of the convention center without being rechecked. Everyone will be required to fill out and sign a short health status questionnaire each day. A nurse RN will be on duty.
We don’t want anyone to become ill as a result of our coin show. It is our hope that we can have complete cooperation regardless of differing opinions of the severity of this disease.
Our PANdemic Motto: “We want everyone six feet apart rather than six feet under.”
SPECIAL SALE due to ANA Show Cancellation – SOLD OUT
The August 4 – 8 ANA Convention cancellation disrupted plans that were already in place to enhance the weeklong event. The Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists made arrangements to host another “Welcome to Pittsburgh” dinner at the beautiful Le Mont Restaurant atop Mount Washington overlooking the fork of the Ohio River. Part of the attendee’s goodie bag was to include a custom label NGC holder 2019 Pennsylvania Innovation Dollar that ironically featured the 1953 discovery of the Polio Vaccine by University of Pittsburgh researcher Dr. Jonas Salk. NGC was to be a Platinum Sponsor of the dinner. The Covid-19 pandemic has created havoc across the globe and forced many cancellations and disruptions affecting everyone’s life today.
PAN has decided to make the 300 special label NGC slabs available to the public at $19.95 each (free shipping in the U.S.) The money raised will be used for numismatic education with a primary focus on young people and the PANKidZone next scheduled for Saturday October 31st as part of the PAN Fall Coin Convention scheduled for October 29-31, 2020 at the Monroeville Convention Center, a Pittsburgh suburb. The Covid-19 situation this fall will determine if the PAN Coin Show will be able to take place. The first 100 slabs will be given to the kids that attend. The children were the most affected by polio in the 1950’s and it is fitting today that we remember what parents and children went through at that time to keep safe. This will leave 200 slabs remaining for public sale. The PAN Board views this as a good way to dispose of these unique slabs and a good use of the proceeds generated by collector’s generosity in these unique times. Please consider this coin addition to your collection. SOLD OUT
Please help us to “Get Abe Lincoln to Pittsburgh.” UPDATE: Since the American Numismatic Association World’ Fair of Money, August 4-8, 2020 to be held at the David Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh PA has been cancelled, the funds that have been raised will be used to “Get Abe Lincoln to Rosemont 2021.” We want to have both Abraham Lincoln (Dennis Boggs) and Benjamin Franklin (PAN Secretary Patrick McBride) attend together with their wonderful costumes and props. We have created a GoFundMe drive to cover Abe’s fee, air fare, hotel, meals etc. Abe and Ben have been delighting crowds working together recently at the January 2020 Orlando Fun Show. Families with children benefit from this engaging experience. Dealers have used photos with these great Americans to promote their businesses. Collectors enjoy sitting and having a chat in the past. Let’s bring the 17th and 18th centuries together again! We are trying to be hopeful that the 2021 ANA-WFM will be Covid free with minimal restrictions.
Ben Franklin will be attending our May 7- 9, 2020 Coin Show at the Monroeville Convention Center
